Failure-Aware LLM-DWA Replanning for Mobile Robot Navigation in Dynamic Obstacle Environments

Dabin Kim, Youngmin Lee, Jeonghee Seo, Andrew Jaeyong Choi+

Co-defined the follow-up research direction and led the design, execution, and validation of dynamic-obstacle experiments, with the proposed method achieving the highest observed success rate among the tested baselines in a simulated maze (5/10 trials).

* Dabin Kim and Youngmin Lee are co-first authors.

Failure-Aware LLM-DWA Replanning for Mobile Robot Navigation

Dabin Kim, Youngmin Lee, Andrew Jaeyong Choi+

Co-defined the research topic and led the design, execution, and validation of the static-obstacle experiments; the method reached the goal in 20/20 trials in a static U-shaped obstacle simulation.

* Dabin Kim and Youngmin Lee are co-first authors.

Robot Learning

Reinforcement Learning · VLA

01

Reinforcement Learning

I am exploring hybrid policy improvement methods that combine on-policy and off-policy learning.

02

VLA

I am interested in connecting visual observations and language-based task descriptions to executable robot actions.

Navigation

Path Planning

01

Failure-Aware Navigation

My navigation research focuses on detecting failures and triggering replanning when a mobile robot cannot make progress.

02

Path Planning

I am interested in how global planning, waypoint selection, and local control work together during navigation.
